In his poetry, Baraka achieved levels perhaps closest to the goals of jazz musicians, especially John Coltrane, whom Baraka admired deeply. His typical wistful charm is retained in such works as the Mélodie concertante (1964) for cello and orchestra. That inference cannot be complete until the last note. July 22nd 1939. 2008: Isaac Hayes (65) American soul n funk singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, arranger, composer, and actor. Also among Tuesday's inductees were Memphis Horns members Wayne Jackson, who played trumpet, and Andrew Love, who played saxophone and often collaborated with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. While Led Zeppelin never received the kind of critical acclaim or mainstream acceptance accorded the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, their influence on rock music has been prodigious.

January 26th 1966. 2015: Ambros Seelos (80) German musician and conductor born in Töging am Inn; he and his orchestra performed Big Band sound music. Cox's career was active throughout the 1930s, when health problems reportedly forced her into retirement, although she did manage an additional recording session in the early 1960s. Dobbs, a short-dress, big-legged woman from Coahoma County, said it is not she but Jackson who should be forced to defend himself.

Jerry Wexler, who was later to help shape the sound of soul music as the producer of Aretha Franklin, was a writer for Billboard magazine in 1949. In 2011, she was still the sole woman conductor in a major orchestra. It also looks back at their individual lives and careers. He changed his name (James was his grandfather’s name, Fletcher Hamilton his father’s) in 1916 when he entered Atlanta University, from which he graduated as a chemistry and math major.
